Original Script

Scene One:

There is a close-up of a machine gun in all its glory with a credit written  across this. A hand moves into the shot and grabs hold off the  gun. There are credits in the form of tattoos across this hand.
This turns into a POV shot where the handler of the gun is looking down at it. On the floor is a credit.

The handler of the gun performs a reloading action and as he does this, a credit will appear along the "cocking" of the gun. The camera then changes to a wide shot of the gun handler but only from the back view. This then turns into a tilt shot which then becomes a mid shot of our gun handler.

His name is Shamus and he is a quiet and astonishing boy in reality however, momentarily he is confident and preparing for a mission.

Scene Two:

There is an over the shoulder shot which reveals a door way. As our Shamus moves through this door, it becomes a front view wide shot. This however turns to a front shot again to reveal a Bandit. The music at tis point will pick up to build tension between the two men as they prepare to fight. There should be animalistic expressions to make it seem more carnal.

Shamus puts down his heavy machine gun and rugby tackles the bandit. The fight scene is in a two shot the whole way through. The two men are now struggling for the Bandits handgun. In order to obtain the gun, Shamus thwacks the bandit in the face with his fist. Giving him more then enough time to grab his gun off him and shoot him in the head.

There is now a wide shot with a glimpse of the dead Bandits body, as Shamus enters yet another door, however picking up his machine gun before he does so.

Scene Three:

An over the shoulder shot from Shamus' point of view reveals a girl/woman tied to the chair with a blindfold. There is a man who holds a gun to AJ's head, who is another main character. The next shot is at first empty but the bandit/kidnapper is seen falling into the shot. This is a mid-shot of him dead. The music is fast paced throughout this scene to mimic the action as they in themselves are very quick.

There is now a side angle wide shot where you can see a glimpse of the dead kidnapper's body. Shamus is hurrying over to her and taking off her bandit. This quickly jumps to cut in/ extreme close-up of AJ's hands those of which are tied to a chair. The next shot is of Shamus and AJ running out of the hostage room, with AJ now in possession of the gun. The door that they both slam open has a credit written on it.

There is now also a birds eye view shot of them running.

Scene Four:
There is an establishing shot to reveal that AJ and Shamus have now successfully escaped and are in a safe haven. This switches to a mid-shot of AJ:

AJ: Thanks for bringing me back... but as you know things move very quickly in this establishment and I am happy to present you with your next mission statement.

In this shot, there is a massive display of match-on action. As he takes the piece of paper from AJ, he opens it up to reveal one final credit which is our name of the film. There he questions AJ:

Shamus: But... this is a plain piece of paper?

As he looks up, there is what appears to be computers and a screen with a timer ticking down. This is a point of view shot and we do not see Shamus' face just yet.

He looks to the side where AJ is seated next to him. This is a side angle mid shot. AJ's clothes have changed:

AJ: Well, what did you expect it to be? This is a test, hurry up and get started.

We now reveal Shamus for the first time as he is sitting at a desk. He is an average looking boy, with nothing weird or unique to his features.

Feedback

This contains the feedback Miss Nair gave us for our original storyboard.

In shots 4 and 5 of the original storyboard, the titles come too soon and the storyboard itself is too long. These two shots should be combined into one and there should be a credit after he picks the gun up. The storyboard should end in shot 24. We should also skip shots 13-18 as it is too complicated and there are also too many settings which will be complicated. In shot 30 if we use it, she should ignore him instead of speaking. Shot 31 should be a medium shot of him confused then starting to work. We should try to use an actual teacher in shot 20 and in the ending to make it realistic. There should be blinking near the end of our opening sequence as some shots should cut to black and therefore show credits. In the daydream you should hear his voice being called and therefore Shamus wakes up in the classroom. The teacher will be double acting as the final bandit and a teacher in the last shot of our opening sequence.

Final Treatment

Our Final idea that has been chosen is; “A schoolboy daydreams of being a superhero but becomes a secret agent.” This is due to various reasons, one of them being that my group and I felt that this idea explored both sides of the action/thriller genre equally. The storyline that my group and I had introduced was far more interesting as there was much more detail to the main character’s life story which would therefore enable us to keep the opening sequence itself quite simple. The conventions that this story depicts are the theme of a tragic event which occurs to the main protagonist such as his parent’s disappearance. It also shows the whole battle of good vs. evil which is common in most films of this certain genre. There’s also the whole concept of revenge residing within this storyline which generally is a convention as most action/thriller films usually portray this concept either through the antagonist or the protagonist. There is also the whole concept of a spark. A spark is generally what the main antagonist does such as murder the boy’s parents which sets off this whole trail of events .e.g. when in Kill Bill VOL.1; the wedding guests are massacred by Bill and a team of people. The opening sequence should attract a vast audience due to the suspenseful storyline which is generally what attracts people to these films. There is also a lot of sympathy for the main character due to his untimely situation.
Story
The story is of a young teenage boy, named Shamus. Shamus’ parents had disappeared when he was 12 leaving him in care for 6 years; all he remembers was the memories of watching action movies with his dad. Shamus lives his life fostered by people who are abusive and is trapped in his home, his only place of freedom is his dreams where he dreams about becoming like the action heroes he saw in the movies. At School shamus is also alone having no friends until he met a new student at his school, who directs him to find out about what had happened to his parents, where discovers a secret Journal which would change his life forever. He finds that he has a relative still alive and goes to him to seek information about his family, his relative tells him that there is a danger coming and tells him he has to train to find the truth about his parents. After he trains his relative abruptly dies without telling him about his parents, but gives him directions to a friend who works for the government and ultimately hires the child to become part of the CIA and to finally make his dream a reality. The Government hires this teen to become a secret agent attempting to solve the mysteries of his parents’ mystery only to find out that they were also working for the government and were killed by an evil organisation with a powerful boss who has ambushed them on a mission to save people from a terrorist attack, with revenge and anger on his eyes he sets out to find the man who is responsible of killing his family and end his reign of terror, His only way to avenge his parents is finally here.
